Yorkie Shih Tzu - Shorkie Tzu

The Yorkie Shih Tzu is a popular Shih Tzu mix, also known as the Shorkie Tzu.

Yorkie Shih TzuThis mixed breed is a cross between the Shih Tzu and the Yorkshire Terrier. The American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the Shorkie Tzu. In order to produce a true hybrid Shorkie, the mother is always a Shih Tzu and the father is a Yorkie.

The Shorkie Tzu's weight ranges from 4-16 pounds and they are 6-11 inches tall.

The Shorkie Tzu comes in many colors such as chocolate, red, black, gold and black with tan. The Shorkie's coat is long and silky. They are great for individuals that suffer from allergies since they shed little to no hair.

The Shih Tzu Yorkie mix requires daily to weekly combing and brushing. The Shorkie can be given the summer cut to reduce grooming maintenance but if you are wanting the Shorkie Tzu to have a top knot, then the hair on top of the head will need to be kept long.

The Yorkie Shitzu loves companionship and they also make great, little guard dogs. Lots of patience is a must when it comes to training and housebreaking these designer dogs since they can be stubborn. But this breed loves to please their caring owners and will do so for life. Their energetic personalities coupled with their small size, make them an ideal dog for any size of home or apartment. They are great with children. The average life expectancy is 14-19 years.

If you currently own a Yorkie mix Shih Tzu, please visit the Shih Tzu Mix page to tell everyone about your designer dog and to share your photos.
