tear stains& paw licking

my female shih tzu is getting tear stains. I switched her from royal canine have tried other foods but still staining. She had none with royal canine but i thought she might be allergic to it because she licks paws and they are discolored. now I'm trying solid gold also adding tear lax to their food. Any advise for us? Kim

Shihtzus can have allergies & they lick their paws. Need to watch for any skin eruptions.They usually start to develop allergies if they are going to have them around 18 months old.

I am feeding my shihtzus A TASTE OF THE WILD, SALMON, & that has seemed to help alot.

The tear stains are normal & I use tear stain remover weekly or so to keep it under control.

You better shift to beef flavor dogfood and put/mix some rice on the dogfood to balance the protein intake.
