Lost Female Shih Tzu in Texas

by Wendy Gunn
(Princeton, Collin Cty)

My female AKC Shih Tzu named Bling-Bling, age 1 1/2 yrs old was stolen from a front driveway in Royse City, TX in September, near downtown. I have looked high and low for her and it breaks my heart that someone would do that. I've placed photos of her at every vet and pet resort in the immediate area. She has a brindle and white coat and weighs about 11 lbs. She has never had a haircut other than having her feet trimmed. She also has an unusual bark for a Shih Tzu. I have her Mother and Father and could prove DNA. Bling-Bling is sorely missed. I called another Shih Tzu rescue group and they didn't even call me back. If you or someone has information, please call me at 214-471-2440. I don't have computer ability to download a picture but I can mail one.

I adopted a Shih Tzu that was rescued from a puppy mill

by Brenda Jesky
(Greensburg, PA USA)

In May, it'll be a year since I adopted my Shih Tzu that was rescued from a puppy mill. He is the best dog ever. He was going to be put to sleep, but a lady rescued him from the mill and I paid 300.00 to adopt him. At first, we went through some behavioral problems with him, but with time and patience, he has become the best companion ever. He is great with kids and so loyal. He doesn't even know what a leash is. He is trained to walk right beside me. I am thankful that I did not give up on him. He is the best dog ever.

Great Shih Tzu Dog From A Rescue

by Charlene
(Florida)

We had previously bought our 2 other shih tzu's from a store. We are lucky to say they are wonderful doggies and I wouldn't trade them for anything....

I tossed around the idea of giving a rescue dog a chance at a loving home. It always broke my heart to see stories of people just dumping their pets for no good reason at all. Pets are not disposable.

I kept looking at Shih Tzu Rescues and after filling out an application and getting the A-Okay on our home inspection, we traveled the 2 1/2 hours there to meet the dogs they had picked out for us. We ended up with Kinkade, who is the sweetest lovey little guy. I am sooo happy we got him. When I saw him, it just clicked that he was the special one.

So.... Please give a rescue dog a chance...there are so many tzu's who need homes. We are happy we are able to give Kinkade his forever home he deserves.

I have several questions about my Shih Tzu's, that I hope you can help me with

by Sherry
(Arkansas)

I have several questions, that I hope you can help me with. Number one, I have a female Shih Tuz, that I rescued several years ago. Her name is Bella. Bella has a problem with biting and I don't know how to make her stop. She will not let me groom her. It has taken me several years, just to get her to let me bath her and do some minor hair cuts to keep the matts down. I got Bella from a lady, who had her on a farm. She left her outside all the time, did not take care of her properly and Bella had to fight for her food and existance. I don't know anything else about her background. Who the parents are and who the original owers where? Because of her biting, I have not found a groomer or trainer to help me in this matter. All the trainers that I have spoken with said it was to late, that she was to old to help with the situation. I am not sure just how old she is, but i think she was around 3 or 4, when I got her. Please help me, I want Bella to have a loving and happy home with me. My children and grandchildren want me to get rid of her or have her put down and I have refused to do so. They are threatening not to come over or to let my grandchildren come over until something is done with her.

My second question is this, I have a Male Shih Tuz, who is 2 years old, his name is Sonny. I know where his parents are, but I was not able to get any papers on him. I was wondering how I can get papers for him. Where do I start first? Thank you for your help in these matters!

Jorja's first month at her new home

Jorja's first month at her new home

I normally only go to the dog park on weekends with my two big dogs but had a week off from work during spring break. I went on a Wednesday morning (day before April Fool's Day) and one of the regulars brought in a small dog she had found wondering the previous day. This little girl had no collar, no microchip, was matted and had a terrible, bleeding flea allergy all over.

I have been toying with the idea of adding a small dog to our household for awhile but wasn't actively searching. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was mine. We all decided she needed to be called Jorja Peach because she is a gold and white Shih Tzu. She was treated right away with flea meds, a dr. visit, shots, anti-biotics, and hot spot shampoo.

Let me tell you, this is the most wonderful dog I've ever had and I've never had a small dog before. She is about 5 years old, spayed, and incredibly well-trained. Since I got her, I've learned how to groom her with my new Wahl clippers and she loves to be primped and dressed up.

My other dogs and my cats all are very o.k. with the new addition. People now tell me all the time how lucky both of us are that we found each other.
