Shih Tzu Chihuahua - ShiChi

The Shih Tzu Chihuahua is a popular hybrid Shih Tzu mix, also known as ShiChi.

Shih Tzu ChihuahuaThis mixed breed is a cross between the Shih Tzu and the Chihuahua. The American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the Shih Tzu Chihuahua.

The ShiChi's weight ranges between 5-15 pounds and they stand 6-12 inches tall.

The ShiChi comes in most colors including fawn, brindle and sable. Their coat can be long and straight or short and wiry depending on the genetic distribution of the parents.

The ShiChi is not a hypoallergenic hybrid even though they shed very little hair. It is recommended that the ShiChi be brushed several times a week to reduce dander and matting.

The Shih Tzu Chihuahua is a very friendly, energetic and alert dog. This breed is generally not recommended for homes with small children because ShiChi's can be overly protective and territorial. These dogs can be stubborn therefore housebreaking and training can be a challenge. The average life expectancy for the ShiChi is 12-18 years.

If you currently own a Shih Tzu Chihuahua, please visit the Shih Tzu Mix page to tell everyone about your designer dog and to share your photos.
