Shaved our Shih Tzu Thor

Thor when he felt better.

Thor when he felt better.

Thor is 10 months old and we have had him groomed several times with success. I wish I would have found this website before we had him shaved this week. He has been jumpy, rolling, biting, and will not play, you can just tell he is miserable. This is our 2nd Shih Tzu and never had a problem with our previous one, Max.

Is there anything we can do to help Thor feel better until his hair grows out? We will never do this again, but it breaks my heart to see him so miserable. Any suggestions are appreciated!

same thing happened to my little one also. all you can do is give him extra love & attention for a few weeks until the hair starts to grow in. they especially do not like their rear ends shaved as they are not used to a lot of air back there.hope this helps

Shaved our Shih Tzu Thor

Thank you Karen! You are right, his whole personality changed, he wouldn't play or walk on carpet (without running). He still doesn't want to walk on carpet, he stays on the furniture mostly, but he is coming back little by little.

It is funny how each dog is different. Max, who we had for 15 years, a Shih Tzu, loved being shaved so we didn't even think that something like this could happen.

So knowing that he had this reaction, we will never have him shaved again, but is there any suggestions on what kind of cut would be good for him, and make him happy? To avoid his psyche being affected. He literally acted like he was in pain and a whole different dog.

Thanks again!
