No more groomers for this shih tzu owner

I started grooming my Shih Tzu myself. I am not the best at it, but I am assured she is safe and not stressed out. I keep her cut close, clean and short. She seems happier that way. I am not into having a dog to show her off to other people, or to have her wear uncomfortable bows and clothes just because it makes ME happy.
This little dog is pure love. Sweet, happy and is a huge source of happiness for me in my life, so I want her to be as comfortable as she can be. The last groomer to cut her left her with a bunch of burns (hot, dull clippers?) I don't know. But she came home and hid under a table and I felt awful. I took pictures and showed her groomer why I was not bringing her back. She is not at all difficult to groom. She sits like a statue and is super sweet and still. Really easy to groom. I have been doing it ever since that day.
A lot of people talk about tear staining. I researched that all natural food will eliminate this as well as give them sweet breath. I have a white Shih Tzu who has never had a bit of staining. She has been on the
Wellness
brand her whole life (she is 2).
My last tip is to get a
hanging water bottle
if your going to keep her in full beard. It keeps the water fresh and no water on the face. They make a big one for dogs. My dog won't even drink out of a bowl if you put it in front of her....lol...she loves her water bottle.
So to everyone who is blessed enough to have a shih tzu in their lives, please make them as happy as they make you. Let's not dress them up to suit ourselves. :)
