Maltese Shih Tzu

(Mal-Shi, Malti Tzu or Maltezu)

The Maltese Shih Tzu is a popular designer Shih Tzu mix, also known by a few other names such as Mal-Shi, Malti Tzu or Maltezu. Maltese Shih Tzu

This mixed breed is a cross between the Shih Tzu and the Maltese. The American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the Maltese Shih Tzu.

The Mal-Shi's weight ranges from 6-15 pounds and they are normally 8-12 inches tall. They come in several different colors, such as black, tan, brown, white or any combination of these colors.

The Mal-Shi have a long & straight coat. They are low shedding and hypoallergenic. The Maltese Shih Tzu requires regular combing and brushing to help reduce tangling.

The Malti Tzu is your friendly, affectionate family companion. They are fairly easy to train but can be stubborn if not socialized at an early age. They need a place to exercise, such as a small yard and an air-conditioned home is a must. The Maltezu's are also known for their fearless and gentle personality. The average life expectancy for the Maltese Shih Tzu is 12 to 14 years.

If you currently own a Maltese Shih Tzu, please visit the Shih Tzu Mix page to tell everyone about your designer dog and to share your photos.
