Just adopted a female two year old shihtzu and she is getting on my male four year old shihtzu's nerves!

She is two years old and very loving! Was left for long hours by her previous owners! Hadn't been spayed yet! Just don't think my current dog likes her at all!

She generally wants to play all the time even when we first get out of bed in the morning! It's kind of like having a young hyperactive toddler. She wants my other dog to play by jumping on him and nipping his legs and sometimes tail but he is not impressed at all!

Really don't know what to do at all to calm her down! Also she always seems to bark when we come through the front door and sets my other dog off! She then proceeds to push my male shihtzu out of the way to try and get all the attention! It's driving me a bit mad now as I feel I'm gonna have to try and split myself in two! My male shihtzu is very loyal to me and hates it when she also tries to get on my lap when he is already on and can snap at her!

HELP! Also my male dog keeps trying to hide from her in my sons bedroom!

Your 2 year old is just that a baby. She needs to be taught her place in the pack. Allow your dog to give her a lesson or two. He has to be able to put her in her place. He won't really hurt her. When you come in make it a point to tend to him first and ignore her til she calm down. You are going through a typical second dog introduction process.
