Fur changing color

My Shih Tzu, Spike, is black and white with a little grey; now his paws have turned reddish brown is that normal? He is an older dog, but honestly the vet can't really say how old he is. We got him from a rescue.

changing colors
by: Karen

I have a 1 yr old shihtzu & when I purchased him he was all black. Now, as he is getting older, he is turning grey, with reddish on his legs. I think he might have had a chocolate parent somewhere. it is common for their fur to change colors sometimes depending on what colors parents or grandparents were.
