17 months old. vomits 2-3 times this past week early morning. Other wise playful as usual

Normally sleeps good at night. He still does but 3 times this week he vomited early, then went back to sleep. He seems fine during the day. So I don't understand this early morning vomiting.

My pup did this too. I read all I could find about it and most said the same thing. These little dogs tummy get so empty during the night that they wake up vomiting. It is like a frothy whitish/ yellow liquid. I solved this problem by giving her a doggie biscuit around 10 at night. My dog is on all natural food (Wellness brand), and they make really perfect size biscuit blocks. My dog would look so forward to her late night snack. She had never thrown up again after that. She is two now and off that schedule. She had a slight weight gain so I put her to one morning biscuit and one meal at 5pm. She slimmed done to a perfect weight and is way healthy. I stay away from any chicken flavored things as well. I read Shih Tzu can have bad tummys from chicken. But she loves her sweet potatos and turkey. Wellness makes it of course, not me. If the dogs blood sugar gets too low from going long periods without eating it can cause vomiting. I free feed my dogs so there is always food down.This works well & have no problems with vomiting any more. It usually does go away once they grow out of puppyhood.

With all due respect to Karen. These little dogs get overweight super easy. To leave food down all day would be a mistake in my opinion. You are right about them outgrowing it. Mine did. But please, give them just a snack, don't let them graze at their leisure....lol

My 1 year old doberman pup pukes unless I give her a midnight snack. :)
Try a few biscuits or other treats at night so that she does not wake up with an empty tummy...
